Historic Converted Church For Sale by Offer

Chalmers Church, built in Gothic Revival style in 1859 (the first service was in January 1860), was designed by architect William Henry Clayton (1823-1877). It was named after Thomas Chalmers, the founder of the Free Church movement in Scotland following the 1843 Great Disruption of the Church of Scotland. His followers were known as Free Kirkers. The church became a Presbyterian church in 1896 and was deconsecrated in 1981.

The Church was bought and sold multiple times following deconsecration. Walker Design purchased the church in 2011 transforming it into their headquarters. Following the sale of the Walker Design business, the church was sold to the owners of Tasmanian Walking Company in 2023 and since then has been their headquarters in Tasmania.

The property will be sold all inclusive of the high standard fitout.

Contained on a prime 723 sqm* corner site opposite the beautiful Princess Square and only 3 blocks from the central Brisbane Street Mall, the building offers 487 sqm* NLA of architectural office space, including a self contained studio apartment. Onsite parking for 3 carparks plus an additional option arrangement with the adjoining carpark for up to 10 additional carparks.

The owners will entertain a leaseback for a period to provide holding income.
