The annual Real Estate Institute Northern Territory (REINT) Awards for Professional Excellence was held on 8 October, with Elders Darwin and Elders Katharine both recognised.Held at the glamorous Mindil Beach Casino Resort, the 2022 awards boasted a tropical Havana Nights theme and Latin-infused entertainment.
Elders Darwin were multi-award-winners on the night. They took out the REINT Property Management Team of the Year for their excellent service and professionalism.
David Oliver, Branch Manager of Elders Real Estate Darwin, says of the win “We pride ourselves on our customer service, and it means a lot to us to be recognised as industry leaders in this space. Our focus is always on supporting our landlords and our tenants, and to have received the highest accolade possible for that support is very meaningful for the team and for Elders. We put a lot of effort into engaging and working with our staff, and we are always looking for ways to motivate and support our team to deliver the best they can – not just for Elders, but for their clients.”
Property Manager Lillian Dobson won the Public Choice Property Manager of the Year Award, with Moira Brodesco winning Runner Up Public Choice Property Manager of the Year. “Winning the public choice award, as well as the runner-up, is something we are really thrilled about,” says David. “To get compliments from our clients, who after all are why we do what we do, is one of the highest forms of praise out there. We hold these awards in particularly high esteem.”
The team were also recognised for their sterling community service with the 2022 Community Service Award. This award was given in recognition of Elders Darwin’s signature ’24 days of Christmas Kindness’ program, which sees the entire team throw their efforts behind fundraising and community service in the lead up to Christmas Day.
“We have this view that this is the most important award category on the night for our business,” says David. “Elders core values are all about community connectivity and being part of our wonderful Top End community. Our roots are in regional Australia, and we have the privilege of representing every person in the community – looking after and managing their most important assets. Whether they’re buyers, sellers, landlords or tenants, we are connected to the whole community.”
During Elders Darwin’s ’24 days of Christmas kindness’, the team connects with 45 local organisations to offer their time, gifts and financial support. Whether it’s running a food drive at Carols by Candlelight, hosting a music concert at the local nursing home, organizing a morning tea or providing gifts for underprivileged children, the Elders team are everywhere. The total value in kind of the program is close to $75,000.
“The program is backed by the generosity of our sales team, who provide most or all of the financial support, and of the company who allow us to help out on paid time,” explains David.
Elders Katharine were also recognised with the prestigious Medium Agency of the Year award. Principal Alison Ross is no stranger to receiving awards, having seen her office win Small Agency of the Year for the past four consecutive years.
“2022 has been an amazing year during which the team has grown to now compete in the Medium Agency category,” says Alison. “We’ve added a team of six property managers as well as three sales agents, and we hold the majority market share in both property management and real estate in Katharine.”
The win speaks to the hard work and enterprise put in by Alison and the team. “We’ve had some challenges over the last few years, including Covid-19, adjusting to a new customer management system and changes to the property management system as well. As well, we’ve taken on a substantial number of new staff so we’ve concentrated a lot on training and bolstering team culture. In the end, though, it comes down to those fundamentals. Good business planning, a focus on customer satisfaction and a strong culture for our staff.”
