Fun and fabulous ideas for kids rooms

As your child grows, their bedroom is an integral part of their journey. It is a place where they can express their individuality, explore their creativity and seek refuge. There are many ways to customise your child’s room to reflect who they are as they grow.

Collaborating with your child to personalise their room is a great way to encourage them to express themselves and build confidence. Whether it be a pop of colour or a total makeover, there are lots of ways you can create a fun, personal space for your child.

Here are some of our favourite ideas to update your child’s bedroom, spark their imagination and help them grow.

Pick a Theme

Using a theme is a great way to help your child express who they are. A fresh coat of paint, themed bedding and cushions are simple options to personalise their space, and it is easy to change as they grow. Popular themes include springtime, forest, underwater, pirate or a favourite sport.

Secret Hideaway

Create a cosy snug for your child to have some quiet time and be themselves. A private space for them to read, play or take a nap. You can use a teepee, a small table or even a cupboard to create a personalised secret hideaway filled with cushions, blankets, books and toys.

Dreamy Fairy Lights

Some kids can’t sleep in total darkness. Stringing some fairy lights around the walls is an excellent alternative to standard plug-in nightlights. They create a dreamy ambience to help your child get the best night’s sleep. Add some photos and pictures to the stings for a vibrant daytime look.

Activity Corner

Create a fun corner for your child to play, keep their toys, read or work on a school project. Try including a beanbag, cushions, curtain canopy, bright rug, a few shelves and a lamp for focused concentration.

Creativity Wall

Make an entire wall a chalkboard for your child to release their creativity. Then, complete it with colourful chalk, a bright chair and books and toys to spark their imagination.

The Night Sky

Who doesn’t love staring at the night sky? Glow in the dark solar system stickers can quickly transform the ceiling into a starry night.

Bed Canopy

Transform any bedroom into a whimsical space by adding a canopy to the bed. Folds of fabric and strings of lights create the perfect place for any princess to enjoy.

Legoland

This one is for the lego fanatic. Take inspiration from the colours and shapes of lego to create themed stacked storage to keep all the lego. A colourful rug for building lego creations and lego-inspired bedding and curtains to complete the look.

School Corner

Support your little genius by adding on a school-room inspired corner. Find a bright corner with windows and try including a small table, shelves for books and school materials, tubs for toys, posters and pencil pots.

Raised Bed

The trend of raised beds is both sensible and creative. Elevating the bed allows you to make use of vertical space and creates room for discreet storage or even a trundle bed for sleepovers. Incorporate drawers, cupboards and floating shelves into the design for maximum impact.

Window Seat

A window seat is a must if your child is a reader or a dreamer! Window seats are a welcome addition to any room, and they provide additional seating for when your child has friends over. In addition, you can incorporate drawers and shelves into the design for added functionality and style it with cushions and window dressings to complete the look.

Go ahead, let your imagination run wild and make a special space for your child to flourish!
